Still Alice by Lisa Genova

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very emotional in the sad way yet there were still moments that would make me laugh out loud. The beginning of the book was not the most grabbing book I had ever read but my sister had told me that she loved it and she said it was probably one of the best books she had ever read so I was motivated to keep reading. About 1/3 through the book, it started to really grab a hold of my attention and I have rarely been able to put the book down for the past few days.

This is a book about a woman named Alice. She is a Harvard Professor who would give stunning lectures on language and psychology. She lives with her husband and they have three children, all in their 20s - 30s: Anna, is their oldest daughter, married to a man named Charlie; Tom, their only son, and middle child; and Lydia, their youngest daughter who hasn't yet gone to college but has started her career in acting. Something is wrong with the way things are and the way Alice feels so she visits a doctor. It turns out she has early-onset Alzheimer's disease. This book tells the story of Alice and how her children, her husband, her work, and most importantly, herself, live with the knowledge and the hardship of Alzheimer's disease.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. It's more of a mature book so older middle school students to high school students and up. It's also a New York Times Bestseller.

I would rate this book a 9.1 out of 10 because I really liked it but the beginning was not the most grabbing and it was a very sad emotional book.

A Dogs Life by Ann M. Martin

When I was younger, I used to love this book. I'm not saying that I don't love it now, but when I was younger I really, really, really loved this book! It was my favorite book, whenever I was asked what my favorite book was I would always answer with this book. Now that I am older than I was then, I have started to read thicker books with more story and more plot. I still love this book very much. I don't think it can ever leave my top 10 favorite books.

This is a story about a stray dog named Squirrel. The story is about her life being a stray dog. She faces many, many challenges. I would recommend this to anyone who is a dog person, I certainly am and this book certainly touched me. I think I would also recommend this book to kids who are about 2nd or 3rd grade students. Although, anyone of really any age can and should read this book.

I would have to rate this book a 10 out of 10 because although it may not be my all-time favorite book, it is still wonderful and even though it is sad, it has an amazing plot and it is wonderfully written.

You really should read this book. :)

Diary of a wimpy kid #3: The Last Straw

This is the third book in the series.

This book is more of focused on Greg's father and how he really wants to shape and mold Greg to be different and in better shape, etc.

I guess I would recommend this book to elementary school children and middle school students because it's a fun type of book to read with the cartoons and the fun font. But also because it has a relation to their lives. They probably would understand how this guy is feeling more than an adult would.

I would have to rate this book a 7.89 out of 10 because (1) that's a cool looking number, (2) it was fun to read but (3) it didn't exactly have a fantastic plot but (4) I still did like the plot, therefore I'm rating it 7.89 out of 10

Diary of a Wimpy kid #2: Rodrick Rules by Jeff Kinney

This is the second book in the series. In my opinion you don't really have to read the first book to understand the second one because they both start out with the same kind of explanation, the first book is a little bit more detailed but whatever.

I guess I enjoyed this book because I read it and the 1st, 3rd, and 4th all in one afternoon. Which also goes to show that they're kind of easy reads.

I think I would recommend someone who likes to read books with pictures and dairy-type books and probably middle school students and elementary school students, too, because this sort of relates to their lives. Also, if you're bored and you want something interesting to do, I think this is a good book to read because the style of font used and the pictures make it a more interesting read.

I think I would rate this book a 6.4567 out of 10 because it wasn't fantastic, but I did enjoy it and it wasn't bad or anything like that.

Diary of a Wimpy kid by Jeff Kinney

This is a story of a kid named Greg Heffley. This is his "journal" which tells of his life in middle school. I think that this book it fun for people to read because it's written in a fun font and it has pictures. Also, it's fun to read about kids who are also in middle school and have similar to worse problems.

I guess I would recommend this middle school students because they may think it's a fun read for the reasons I just listed.

I guess I would rate this book a 7 out of 10 because it's fun to read and I read it all in one day, but also, it wasn't exactly the most exciting book ever.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid #4: Dog Days by Jeff Kinney

This is the fourth book in the series. This book takes place during the summer when (spoiler alert!!!!!!) Greg's family gets a dog.

Just like all the other books in this series, I would recommend this book to a 5th - 8th grader because they can relate to it the best. Also, the font and cartoon style are fun and enjoyable to read. It's not a difficult read, just a heads up on that one.

I guess I would rate this book a 7 our of 10 because it was good but not like my all-time favorite or anything and it didn't leave me with this emotion or feel or anything like books really should.

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

I really enjoyed reading this book. I read it two summers ago at my grandmothers house on her swing. The book is kind of short but I really enjoyed it. The book didn't go flat out to tell you what was going on, instead you had to wait until the end of the book to really fully understand what was happening.

I would recommend this to people who are looking for a short read and a plot that will keep you wondering.

I would rate this book a 8.9 out of 10 because it was short and sweet but could have been really good if it were longer as well.

From Bad to Cursed by Katie Alender

This is the second book to the Bad Girls Don't Die series. When I first saw this book, I thought: They really don't need to add a sequel...  Then my sister ended up borrowing the book so I decided to read it myself too. I wasn't so sure that this book would be any good...
The book is about when Kasey gets herself involved with ghosts again and then Alexis gets caught in as well. I find it amazing how Alexis' emotions change so much throughout the book, but the book is written so well that you don't see the sudden change of thought. Amazing yet terrible. I loved this book, and I hated this book.
At first, I was a little bored, reluctant to read- then I was really pulled in and getting excited.
Suddenly...
Plot twist! This book already had a plot twist, this one wasn't needed. The book was wrapping up fine but then it was like Alender wanted to drag it out more. That was a major disappoint. There were other parts in the story that I found unnecessary, annoying and other stuff.
I enjoyed this book, and it is very nice... but it just wasn't quite right. Anyone who read Bad Girls Don't Die can read it, of course, it's not that big a deal if you don't.
I rate it a 6/10

Late Summer Rain by Aubrey

It's a short story but it's incredibly cute, sweet and totally touched me. I'll never forget it. I was pretty much hooked as soon as I began reading. I put off everything to read this book.
The adventure of Dannie and Ryan as the two follow out Ryan's summer-to-do wish. They do some amazing things... including falling in love.
I just loved this book. It's just such a cute plot and the writing's great. At the end, there was an amazing plot twist. The book didn't end how I expected, but I loved this ending even more.
You'd have to read this on Wattpad, Aubrey's user name is AubreyEatsHearts.
I highly suggest it to anyone, especially those who love an adorable romance.
I rate this a 9.99/10 it was a little too sweet.

Magyk by Angie Sage

I read this book over the summer actually. I didn't read any of the following books in the series because I didn't want to wreck my view of the book. I really enjoyed reading this book. In my opinion, the plot was very interesting. It was a creative idea. The story takes place in almost another world, but that's not directly mentioned or anything. Anyways, it's about this family whose son died and was taken away on the day of his birth. This wasn't just any son, he was the seventh son of the seventh son. But this family was given a baby girl by a lady in a mysterious way, and they were told to tell no one of the switch. The tale takes place 10 years later on the birth day of their daughter when the life of that family starts to get complicated.

I would definitely recommend this book to people who like fantasy and magical books because this is exactly that type of book. It had me hooked until the end and I bet it will be the same for you if you decide to read it.

I would rate this book a 9.5 out of 10.0

Enjoy ;)

this lullaby by Sarah Dessen

I just finished this book and I have to say that I loved it! I had been bugging my friends about how I really wanted the book to end but it just wasn't going that direction. They were probably getting tired of it. The ending was satisfying in a way that's different than how i wanted it.

Anyways, it's a story about a girl named Remy who doesn't believe in love. She only dates guys who follow her list and if they haven't had sex after x weeks, she gives them The Speech aka she dumps them. This is the way things have always been and the way things are. Until Remy meets Dexter. Dexter is different, he doesn't follow the list. The plot line of this book follows Remy and Dexters relationship.

I really, really, really liked this book! I would recommend this book to people who like teen romance and stuff like that. The ending made me feel satisfied. It gave me enough room to get to imagine the possibilities of what could happen next but not too much room that I felt it was incomplete. I would really recommend this book.

I think I'll have to rate this book a 10 out of 10 because over all the book would probably have been a 9.5 but the ending was really good. I hope you read this book and enjoy it as much as I did. :)

13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson

Okay, first of all, I just got to mention this: Apparently according to Johnson, every freaking Asian that goes to Europe is Japanese. That just really bugged me. Since this book involves traveling, there are many races mentioned but every Asian character is freaking Japanese. Not that I mind Japanese people but seriously?
Anywho... on with my review.
This story is about how Ginny's run-away-and-now-dead aunt has suddenly sent her a package with 13 little blue envelopes. Each envelope has a task, and if she chooses to, Ginny would be experiencing many things because of those letters.
I didn't really understand what was the point of this book, what the conflict was. It was just a bunch of little tasks and then a little story on what happened because of the task. The book was pretty good, I guess, but I didn't like the writing. It was too casual and too unprofessional. I didn't like the ending either. At one point, very close to the end, then something terrible happens. I skipped the rest of the chapter to get over the scene.
I don't highly reccomend but it's still a fun read when you're bored. Anyone could read this, really.
I rate this book 7/10
~Mushu

In my opinion, the book wasn't half that bad. But I didn't really like it as much as I thought I would. The title made me think it was going to be super duper good, but then it wasn't. There were some things I liked, like hearing about the pretty background(landscape) and reading about Herods but other than that I didn't really like the plot line, it felt dull to me.

I guess as I'm rating this, I would rate the book a 3/10 because it just wasn't all that great..

Red Scarf Girl by Ji-li Jiang

I had to read this book for school. This is a true story about a girl living in China during the time of the Cultural Revolution, when Chairman Mao was leading the Chinese on with the great leap forward. Anyways, Ji li, the girl, is telling the story from her point of view about everything that happened because she came from a family with a black background. If a family has a black background then it means that one of the ancestors in the family had a not right job (this could be a spoiler for you, if you're anything like me but in ji li's case it was that her grandfather was a landlord which is bad because all landlords "exploit" people).

In my opinion the book was good. It could have been better, but it was still good. I love to read and write and I kept noticing little details that could be changed to make the book happier and maybe give it more plot. But now, looking back after I have read the book, I think that if any of those details had been changed the book would have to have been completely different and wouldn't have shown the realistic harshness of that time.

If you have to read a book for school about China during this time period, or even if you're given this book to read for school and you're doubting it a little bit I will tell you this: it's better than you may think. I didn't have a very high expectation for this book when I read it because usually books for school are boring. When I started to read the book there would be times where I had to read another chapter and times when I wanted to stop in the middle of a chapter. But when I got about halfway through the book I just didn't want to put it down.

I guess I would rate this book a 6/10. Also, I'll just let you know right now, I'm a sappy person and this book made me cry.

Extras by Scott Westerfeild

This is the final book in it's series. The other books include Uglies, Pretties, and Specials. The book takes place a few years after Specials ends. The plot line doesn't really relate to the plot in the other books. Some characters are mentioned from previous books and some even have a part in it, but they are not the leads.

Here's what I have to say about recommending this book: you don't have to read the previous books to get it. If you plan on reading the other books, I think you should read them first because otherwise this book makes them less entertaining. I also think you don't have to read this book if you've read the other books in the series. Personally, I didn't think this book was very entertaining. I guess I could understand someone liking it, but the characters didn't interest me and I didn't feel a strong connection with them like I did with Tally and Shay and David and Zane from the other books.

I guess I would rate this book a 6.45 because it wasn't that great out of 10.0

-Flounder

Specials by Scott Westerfeild

This is the 3rd book in this series. It's about the Specials. The plot line of Tally mostly follows how much she misses Zane and her love for him and she tries to stay near him even though told otherwise. His brain is still damaged and she really wants him to be a special too. That was a really bad summary but I didn't want to totally ruin the book for you. It's actually really good. It made me cry, I was a little bit upset with it, but looking back I think over all it's a pretty good book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has read Uglies and Pretties. The book has a resolved ending unlike the previous two. If you like action, adventure, fantasy and romance novels then I would recommend you read this series and this book.

I would probably rate this book a 8.5 but because of the ending that I think was good I'll rate this book 8.9 out of 10.0

-Flounder

Pretties by Scott Westerfield

The second book in the series. This is a book about Tally, Shay, Zane, and Paris. They are all Pretties in the same group of friends called the Crims (Criminals) which they got voted into due to the amazing stories that Tally and Shay have to tell of living in the Smoke and even better: Tally's adventure getting there. This is their struggle to overcome being pretty and all the things and thoughts that come with it.

I really enjoyed this book. It's the second in the series and I would recommend reading it if you've read the first. Especially since the first leaves you with a cliffhanger. This one begins a few months later. If you like fantasy, action, and adventure novels you should read this book and the previous in the series.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a 9.99 or even a 10.0

Uglies by Scott Westerfield

Everyone is waiting for their 16th birthday when they get to get the operation to make themselves pretty. All of Tally's friends have gotten the operation and she is left in the dorm building by herself, waiting for her birthday to arrive. But then Tally meets someone new; her name is Shay. All of her friends have also had the operation and she is also left waiting. Tally and Shay become good friends. But then something changes Tally's relationship with Shay. This is their adventure.

I really, really, really, really loved this book!!! I could read it over and over and over and over. I would recommend this book to people who love to read fantasy, action, and adventure novels.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a 10.0

Hey guys! Hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I know I did. Did anyone go Black Friday shopping? I didn't. Been spending a lot of my time doing homework :( apparently the more days to my weekend the more homework one of my teachers wants to give me. Oh well, I've finished now and I'm going to go have some fun. Happy four day weekend, Thanksgiving, and Black Friday everyone!

Possessed by Kate Cann

When I first started reading this, it seemed kind of stupid and I didn't really want to read it. Eventually, as I went on reading, I enjoyed the book more and more. The book is about Rayne, who just wants to leave the noisy, crowded place where she lives. Her summer job takes her to what she thinks is the perfect place- a country mansion. Turns out that the mansion is spooky, maybe even haunted- the past of this place seems to brought Rayne in as well. Soon, Rayne no longer even feels safe.
Okay, that's based off of the official summary but I don't really remember the details, I only remember that summary was not so accurate. I do remember that the story had many surprising twists and that I really enjoyed it.
There is a sequel, Consumed, which I haven't read and only plan to if I need a book and come across it.
I'd recommend this to people who like a creepy ghost story, probably not for the younger readers.
I rate this book a 7/10

Scat by Carl Hiaasen

Written by the same person who wrote Flush and Hoot, Scat is about when Nick and Marta go looking for their missing teacher after she never returned from Black Vine Swamp. There's a lot more going on in the swamp than they realize.
That's not the best summary of the book, but the one on the book isn't great either. Anyway, I read it a while ago, but Scat was about some guy doing illegal oil stuff or something. This book was actually quite interesting when I read it for some book report.
Like Flush, I recommend it to those who love nature- people of any age.
I rate this book a 9/10

7 Suicidal Videos by Victoria Springs

This book reminded me an awful lot of "Thirteen Reasons Why". Many other people agree with this opinion and got upset saying that this story is copyrighted. Personally, I don't agree. Think about vampires: an idea often used and twisted into the author's own version.
I really liked this book, it was pretty interesting. I've got to admit though, thinking back, the book was awfully open. There were tons of tiny missing and important details. There never really were seven suicdal videos, which suck and there was an "open ending" meaning that you had to think up yourself how it would end. But it was too open if you ask me. Very important things were left out!
The only thing that kept me going was the idea was interesting and the writing was good. Well, writing technique that is. I think Springs needs to work on story plot and all that.
This book was rated pg-13 but there are some pretty gory deaths (obviously).
You can read it on Wattpad. Springs' username is ChixWithStix33
I rate this a 8/10

A Bone from a Dry Sea by Peter Dickinson

This is a book that takes place in two different times, now and four million years earlier. A girl named Vinny is on an expedition trip with her father. They are excavating a site where their early ancestors may have lived so long ago. Which is correct because four million years earlier a young girl named Li is creative and smart. In a way, she leads her people and she teaches them useful things to live. The plot line follows Vinny into the expedition and Li into her life as an early human.

I did not like this book. I had to read it for school. The story with Li wasn't all that bad, I actually kind of liked it. I just didn't like Vinny and her plot line AT ALL. So, I guess I personally wouldn't especially recommend this book. If you have to read it for school, it's not all that bad, but if you have the option, you might want to read something else.

I would rate this book a 4 out of 10 because I only liked half of the plot line and I only liked that part of the time.

Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

LOVED this book. It was amazing but I was pretty darned dissapointed at some points. The writing, plot, all that was amazing too but... well, like, half of the book just seemed to be dragging out how weird the main character is. And the ending, it leaves you wanting to read the second book which is normal, but the ending should have at least been decent! It was more like... The end of a chapter. Augh.
Even so, I loved it, the plot was kind of thick though and confused me a little.
Starcrossed is about this girl, Helen, who turns out to be extremely involved with the Greek gods, mythology, those kind of things. The fates have plenty of problems planned for her and her loved ones and she has to change that.
Highly recommend to people who like mythology, romance, family, little bit of adventure, and more!
I rate this book 9.5/10

Bad Girls Don't Die by Katie Alender

Alexis is considered weird by everyone. But then again, her sister is pretty weird too. Kasey, Alexis' little sister, has become obsessed with an antique doll. It doesn't seem that important but after Kasey found the doll, weird things begin happening around their home. Even Kasey seems to be changing. Her eyes turn from blue to green, she talks all old-fashioned and her sweet personality changes to a much meaner one. Alexis seems to be the only one who can stop what's happening and save Kasey too.
There was a teensy bit of romance along the way and a whole ton of spooky moments. I totally loved this book! I was pulled in right away and was even quite terrified at some points. I loved everything involved with this book. There was also a second book, but it really isn't neccisary to read.
This book could be something read by boys or girls. I'd suggest it to those who like somewhat scary stories, strong relationships (like friendship and family) and things like that! But it's really good! Give it a chance!
I rate this book: 10/10

Frindle by Andrew Clements

Okay, so I usually don't like popular well known stories- actually, I don't read them at all. Like the Hunger Games or whatever. I mean yeesh! Maybe I should lie and say, "Omigod, I know right! I totaly read it and totally loved it!" Maybe then those book sharks will leave me alone.
Offtopic- alrighty! So, this was one of the few popular bookies that I enjoyed. Read it so long ago because, well, it's child's level. It inspired me. And was an awesome book. It's about a dude who decides to call pens "frindle" and his teacher seems against that.
This book could be for literally anyone. Though children's level, it is always a fun read.
Yes, so inspiring... I will make a new word too! From now on I'm calling the pencil: PEN- cil. Mwahahahaha....
I rate this book: 8/10

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie

Wow. This book was pretty funny. I especially liked how it had pictures and cartoons. The story is actually really deep, sad, and touching. In it's own way. I've re-read the book a few times. Which is a good thing. I only re-read books that I REALLY liked even though yes- this book is not really what I'd call 10/10.
The book isn't really what I'd call mature but it's certainly not for kids. I mean, there's death, and being poor, all that sad boo-hooey stuff. But there are tough kids out there. The cartoons lighten things up a lot though. Everyone I know only read this book for school- I read it voluntarily and I have no idea why it's school material but whatever.
I rate this book 8/10

Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks by Lauren Myracle

What first got my attention was the cover and title. It seemed really cute! Well the book... is kind of weird and not quite on the baby cute side. This book was written by a best selling author if you didn't already know, but I don't think this book was a best seller.
It's about a girl named Carly and how her baby sister has turned, quote: "hot". She's used to being protective and watching over Anna, her sister, and Anna seems to be getting annoyed. There are all sorts of other little tidbits throughout the story but that's the gist of it.
Um... I enjoyed this book well enough but as I've said, it was weird for me. I guess this type of story just isn't for me. I'd recommend Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks to older teens (I think) who like romance. Like, seriously complicated romance...
I'd rate this book 7.5/10

Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

This was a pretty great book that I enjoyed reading. It took me a long time to finish though because I wasn't quite captured into the story. It is a really thick book and kind of, say, older content. I'm not really sure because I read it a while ago ^-^
It's a pretty sad story about abandoning and fitting in and such which really upset me a while ago- but the plot is very touching and the endings all happy and hopeful.
Anyways, I do recommend that you all read this book. And other Sarah Dessen novels. They're a little bit boring, but still pretty good.
I rate this book 7/10

Confessions of a Triple Shot Betty by Jody Gehrman

It's a really awesome story! The plot was kind of boring and confusing when I first started reading this book but I absolutely loved the ending.
It's the journal of a girl named Gina. The story's about when her cousin, Hero, comes to visit and all the events that follow. There's boy trouble, friend trouble- that kind of stuff.
There is a little bit of mature content so I'm assuming about ages 14 and up unless you are a pretty darn mature kiddo. I do recomend it for (mainly girls) people who are around the ages.
I rate this book... well, I had read this book once a long time ago. Then I would've rated it a 6/10 but over the summer, I read this book over again and I really liked it soo.... 8/10

Belle Teal by Ann M. Martin

This is a book that takes place right when kids of color were aloud to go to the school they lived closer to, a colored school or not, it's from the point of view of Belle Teal. Belle Teal is not a girl of color but she doesn't believe it is right to treat the kids who are any different than the kids who aren't. There are struggles between her and some other kids with different opinions in that school.

I really, really, really, really enjoyed this book. The plot was really attention grabbing and then ending was very well written. I would recommend this book to kids who are maybe 4th grade and up. It is not too difficult of a read.

From one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book 8.9

Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

A really, truly, wonderful book. I loved the plot, loved the twists, loved the characters, loved the writing, all of it! I really liked the writing. It's first person and the writings kind of silly and casual, you can feel connected into the story by it. Yeah, it's a little on the girly side, but guys can enjoy this too! It's a kind of creepy, serious plot about paranormals dying suddenly and such. The point of view, as I said, is of a "normal" teenager so it's not that creepy while reading. Plus, there's tidbits of romance in between ;) I very highly recomend it to people but... I guess it depends on what you like.
I rate this a 10/10 !!!!

Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah

I think Adeline Yen Mah wrote a couple of books with this title. The one I read was not fiction. And it wasn't Ancient china, but it was china so I'll put it under that lable. It's a good, but really sad story.
It can be for boys and girls, but if you can't handle how cruel people can be and stuff like that, don't read it.
I rate this book a 7/10
-Mushu

Blood Ninja by Nick Lake

I believe this story would fall in the fantasy/action category. I really enjoyed it. The detail was amazing and so was the story. It was pretty long though so if you only like short stories, this isn't such a good one. It's about a boy getting revenge and stuff. It has vampire ninjas and it's a kind of violent story? Vampires yes, but none of the chummy romance. It's for guys and girls though so no worries... unless you're squeamish.
There are a lot of twists in the story which makes Blood Ninja an exciting read. The ending is suspenseful, somewhat a cliff-hanger and not at all satisfying. I mean, this book COULD be 10/10 but I hated the ending SO BADLY! :P There is a second book though: Blood Ninja 2: Revenge of Lord Oda. I think that's what it's called. I haven't read the second yet. I do plan on reading it. The ending is not happy, it leaves you wanting to read the secondbook..... I guess that's the point! I looked online, supposedly the third book is coming out sometime soon.
I'd rate this book... 8/10

I reccomend it to girls who likes a good romance but I've seen guys read it too! But... rated pg-13 so older kids, like teens should be the ones reading.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

I just spent most of the afternoon reading the last 200 pages of this book. It is wonderfully written and not the type of book that you can get bored in. When you're reading this book you get so focused on the current perspective and what's going on in that persons life that when the narrator switches you're disappointed that you have to leave the current narrator and their person life yet you're excited to finally be hearing about the next narrators personal life again. I highly recommend this book.

I would recommend this book especially to people who like to read realistic historical fiction books and to people who like to read the book that a movie was based on before they watch the movie.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book an eleven.

The Cupcake Queen by Heather Hepler

I really enjoyed this book. If you're a hopeless romantic then you'll probably really enjoy the book. It keeps you guessing until the very end. The idea was interesting and definitely not something I would have come up with, it was different. I read it on a plane and it really made that trip enjoyable.

I would recommend this for you if you enjoy reading modern teenage romance.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book an 9.0 - 9.3

Dragon Keeper by Carole Wilkinson

I recommend that if you are given a list of books to read for school and you had to pick them, if this is an option, you should pick it. You really start to get into the characters and the building relationships and the journeys. The ending makes you satisfied yet you think about it and stuff.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a 7.0 - 7.2

All-American Girl by Meg Cabot

I really enjoyed this book. The plot and description are really well thought out and stuff. This is a story about a girl who thinks she's completely in love with her sister's boyfriend. She really enjoys art and her parents decide to make her take an art class. While waiting for her parents to pick her up one day, she see's someone try to assassin the president so she saves the president's life. The story's about everything that came with that.

I would recommend this book to people who like modern teenage romance, like me.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a ten.

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

An interesting idea for a plot. I personally did not like this book. I know that there are quite a few people who really liked this book. I was not one of them. I began to lose interest and stopped reading for a few months until something pushed me to start again. I finally finished the book. I was really interested in the beginning but I got a little distracted.

I, personally, wouldn't recommend this book, but I guess you might like it so read other reviews.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a 6-ish.

The Conch Bearer by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

This is a story about a young boy, named Anand, who believed in magic when one day, he comes across it. He leaves on a journey to return the great conch to it's rightful place with a young girl named Nisha and an old man named Abadhyatta. The plot takes you through many different places to return the conch and maybe for Anand to return to his family.

I really enjoyed the plot of this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventure and action novels as well as magic.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a ten.

Peter and the Sword of Mercy by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson

The 4th and last book in the series. The plot is different, definitely different. I liked it. I think it really brought closure to the series.

I would recommend this book for you if you've read the other books in the series and liked them.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this a 8.6

Peter and the Secret of Rundoon by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson

The 3rd book in the Starcatcher series. An excellent read. I enjoyed reading this one a little more than the second but still enjoyed them both immensely! The end is really interesting and captures your attention well.

I would recommend this book to people who enjoyed the first two books in this series.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a 9.5

-Flounder

Peter and the Shadow Thieves by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson

The 2nd book in the Starcatcher series. I was captured by this book but not as captured as I was in the first book. The last couple of chapters really leave you on the edge of your chair or couch or whatever you're sitting on when you're reading this book. But I have to say that the only reason I didn't like this book as much as the first is because I didn't like one of the characters and was a little bit afraid of him...

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed reading the first book in this series.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a 9.

Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Berry and Ridley Pearson

Wonderful story. You will be captured 'till the end! This story tells about the beginning of Peter Pan. I was captured by the plot the entire time and was curious to how it would all tie together in the end. I was on vacation while reading this book and I was so captured that I read at every chance I got. When I finished the book I wanted to read the second so bad that I went to a bookstore and ended up buying the whole series!

I would recommend reading this book if you like to read fantasy and/or action novels.

On a scale from one to ten with ten being the best, I would rate this ten or higher!

Rise of the Golden Cobra by Henry T. Aubin

I was not especially intrigued by this book because I had to read it for school. It's the journey of a young boy in ancient Egypt.

If you are fascinated by ancient times especially Egypt, then you may like this book but if you're like me then you may not enjoy is as much. It wasn't all that bad, I just wouldn't have read it on my free time.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, i would rate this book a 6.0

The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine

This is the story of two princess sisters who are complete opposites. Meryl is brave and strong and dreams of battling all the creatures of Bamarre. Addie is timid and quieter and just wishes to stay at home while her sister is off on her own adventures. Ever since they were little they have been playing games where Princess Addie gets the Gray Death, a sickness that has been around for many, many years and can only be cured when cowards find courage and rain falls over Bamarre, and Meryl goes off to find the cure. Never once do they imagine that Princess Meryl would fall ill with the Gray Death and her only hope would be Princess Addie finding strength to find the cure.

I have read this book twice now and both times I have enjoyed the plot and the writing immensely. I would recommend this book for you if you enjoy fantasy and adventure novels.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a 9.5

The Doll People by Ann M. Martin and Laura Godwin

I really enjoyed reading this story about Annabelle Doll. In this book, Annabelle decides to break out of the ways of her family and explore Kate's room, and even the Palmers' house. She finds out that there is a new doll family in the house for Nora, Kate's younger sister. But Nora's dollies are modern and made out of plastic unlike the Doll Family who is antique and made out of china, not to mention over one hundred years old. This is the tale of her adventures.

I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys fantasy novels. It is a lower level read so maybe would be good for advanced second graders to fifth graders. It's such a wonderful book.

On a scale from one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a 10.0

Loser by Jerry Spinelli

It was a good book? I think? I mean, I feel like I liked it, but I did not understand AT ALL. I was totally lost. I read this book in a book club at school. I believe the book won an award. Yay for Loser! I don't recall if it was a best seller though....
I think many people have read this story and enjoyed it. You could say I liked it, but if you asked me for a summary and stuff about the book, you'd hear crickets.
The writing kind of bored and confused me. All I really remember is something about mailmen, snowboarding and someone maybe dying. I mean, it seemed like they died, but they came back to life. Or was it a vision? AUGH. See? It fries my brain. If you disagree and understand the story, I will gladlly take tips and an explanation.
I don't know who should read this. Maybe I can try reading it again. Well, give it a chance, but I don't exactly reccomend it.
I rate this book a........ -.- a...... how do you rate a book that you can barely remember a single thing???? I'll just say 4/10. I feel bad. I'm very sorry

Eldest by Christopher Paolini

Everyone LOVES this book, and you have proabably either heard of it, or loved it yourself. Well yeah, popular, middle of a series, first book's a movie.... blah blah blah.
I hated it.
Okay, it's not THAT bad. The story was okay I guess, but it was taking me, like, months to finish. In the end it took me 4 years to read the ending, which was kind of interesting. I read the beginning, the ending. Not the middle. I mean, okay! It was good! It still bored me out of my wits. I have no idea why. If you've read the first book, I'm not saying you shouldn't read this one. But, if you're like me, it may be boring. to think I never gave up trying -.- Maybe it's 'cause I started in third grade...
Suggestion! Do NOT read fat, old, books at the third grade years. Go ahead and brag if you enjoyed the book in third grade though. This is just my review, and my opinion on books.
The book's definately still interesting though, anyone can go ahead and read it. You will just need patience to trudge through a slow beginning.
Amazon says the book is 3.5 out of 5 stars well...
I rate this 5/10 Good indeed, but boring.

A and D by Louisse C.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! You can purchase it online at smashword.com/books/view/80852
You will not regret it at all.
It's a typical setting, a nerd falling in love with their best friend- a jock.
Even so, A and D is so dang amazing and unique and awesome! I recommend it to anyone really, but I bet mainly girls would like it -.- But it's also listed as teen fiction. Yeah, not for little kids.
I was so sad when the book was over, but I'm really happy, it was amazing. The book was kind of based on Taylor Swift's song "You Belong With Me". There's a bunch of different trailors for it too if you dig around. You can always read the story on Wattpad.com  (her user name is fallenbabybubu) but if you purchase the story, you get to read deleted chapters, special chapters, that kinda stuff.
Anyways, whatever you do, I so absoulutey say you have to at least try reading it! Anyone!
I rate this book a 50/10!!!!!! Seriously! It's so awesome! :) Wait... Maybe not. It was a little too typical -.- say, around 10/10 :)

Enchanted Ivy by Sarah Beth Durst

Enchanted Ivy is a story set around Princeton University. The main character, Lily Carter really wants to attend the school. She is told that she can join Princeton if she takes the Legacy Test. She has to find out what the Ivy key is, and then find it. While taking the test, she finds weird things like talking gargoyles and more.
Yes, a formal summery of the story. Anyways! It's a really good book that I loved and finished really quickly! I highly suggest it. The main character was kind of dense at first, and that kind of ticked me off. There were other things that annoyed me as well. Even so, I still loved it. I especially loved Tye, someone Lily meets along the way. He's my favorite character. Oh yeah, there was a little bit of romance but not so much, so I won't count it as the genre. Well... I think this book can be a read for anyone :)
I rate this book... say.... um.... 8/10 I guess

We'll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han

We'll Always Have Summer is a third book in the Summer series and it's the last book. I sugest reading the first two before this one.
The first book is The Summer I Turned Pretty
The second book is It's Not Summer Without You
I really liked all three of these books, they were really good. It's about a girl, Belly and her life around the summer house. It's a romance I guess between her and this guy, Conrad. I can't tell you much of a detailed summery on the third book without ruining the first but I really reccommend it! I mainly reccomend this to those who love a sweet, undying romance.
I rate this book 9/10 :)

Sister's of the Sword: Journey Through Fire by Maya Snow

The third book to the Sister's of the Sword series. I still really liked this book like the others. It was good, kept me on my toes and I was very into it. Starting the book off, I couldn't exactly get into the story. I did eventually though.
There were certain parts in the book that absolutely devastated me though. I know it can't be perfect but I hate misunderstandings, cruel people, betrayers, that kind of stuff. It just makes me really upset.
I'm still happy with the book but I'm sad with how some things ended up. I found myself constantly not wanting to read anymore because one character was so mean and cold or something like that. It just pisses me off. I didn't regret reading it though, and sometimes I do regret reading some sequels and such.
Very highly suggest only those who've read the first and second book read this one.
I rate this a 9/10

Sister's of the Sword: Chasing the Secret by Maya Snow

This story was still pretty good. I was so excited when I found it, but I couldn't quite get into it. I was already so satisfied with book one (Sister's of the Sword). I mean, the whole plot wasn't exactly solved at the end of book one but I still think the sequel wasn't neccesary. If you want, you never have to even read this book, but I still do suggest it.
This book is for anyone who read the first. It would be terrible to read it before the first.
I rate this a 9/10

Sister's of the Sword by Maya Snow

I loved this book through and through. The plot was pretty thick and all the events were exciting. I absolutely loved it. It's about a girl, Kimi, and her sister, Hana, avenging their father and older brother who was killed by their now evil uncle. It was such an awesome read. I didn't even read the summary. I read one sentence- and I was hooked. It's an unforgettable experience.
The writing is actually very good. There is a second and third book too, and there might even be a fourth. I don't know. I do think that this one was the best out of all three so far.
This book can be for both boys and girls of any age.Well.... there is violence. I was told by my teacher it was fifth grade level.... I was very offended. The level doesn't matter though. The story itself was absolutely wonderful. Highly reccomend.
I rate this a 10/10 ! Maybe even higher! I don't know!

A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young

This book seems pretty cool, the summary caught me so I checked it out. I hadn't read it yet, but the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to read the book. I mean, it's about a girl who feels the urge to help people and then her friends misunderstand- that kinda stuff. Goodness, I hate misunderstandings -.-
In the end I started reading because I needed a book to read. It was really good! The story's cool and so's the writing. It did get kind of upsetting though as I moved on. There were more misunderstandings, upsetting things about changing -bleh.
I couldn't help but read the end before the beginning. The ending was happy and wonderful. I loved it. But then there was the epilogue. Oh, the epilogue! It. Ruined. The. Whole. Thing. It was like, totally depressing, disappointing, not satisfying at all. I wish I just didn't read the after. I don't really want to finish the book now. I mean, it was good, but kinda annoying anyway.
I rate this 6/10

The House of Night Series by P.C. and Kristen Cast

Marked
Betrayed
Chosen
Untamed
Hunted
Tempted
Burned
Awakened
and the next book coming up November 2011: Destined
It's rumored that might be the last book! I reccomend it all! The book is based on vampyres (in this book it is spelled like that, NOT vampires) where turning into one is like... puberty. Hahahaha.... except if you don't make it, you die. I loved this series so I'll just do a review of them all. The thing is, the most recent books, tidbits of small, yet important things happen but it's all basically the same. "Oh no, bad guy on the loose! What to do... what to do...." etc. It's kind of boring me, like the authors are dragging out the story longer. I still love the series and can't wait for the next book to come out though and it should make an awesome read. It is a mature story though. I think it should be ages 14 and up.
Put together, I rate this whole series a 8.5/10
-Mushu

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

This is such a great book! I enjoyed reading it the whole way. I wasn't so sure about reading the book at first but once I started, I was really pulled in. There were some tidbits of the story where things upset me, like something gone wrong. But that's life right? It can't be perfect and issues always rise to the surface. There are three books to the series but I'm satisfied so I decided to not read the rest.
This book can be for anyone, any age. It is kind of fat though so maybe... fourth grade and up?
I rate this a 8/10

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Hannah Baker moved and never really fit in at her new school. There were always rumors about her going around, no one knew which ones were true. Except her. Before she killed herself she made tapes. They tell the story of why she decided to end her life. Each tape has a person and a reason. From the point of view of Clay, one of the recipients of the tapes.

I really, really, really liked this book. It was very well written. The book was sad and really caught my attention. It has some more mature scenes so maybe this is better for mature 6th graders, and up.

From one to ten, with ten being the best, I would rate this book a 9.9 if not a 10.0
